Auslan is a visual language which uses our hands and facial expression to communicate with each other. Students participate in lessons each week to build their vocabulary, develop simple descriptive skills and ultimately hold a simple conversation with other signers.
Students in Prep to Grade Two-
The aim of this program is to encourage students to build their vocabulary so they are able to converse with their peers, teachers and hearing impaired members of our school community. Students participate in a variety of learning activities that are games based.
Students in Grade Three to Six-
The aim of this program is to build student abilities in having simple conversations using correct signs, hand shapes and facial expression. Students have been involved in individual projects to build knowledge of vocabulary and develop their descriptive language skills through sign.
